Cloudy and breezy

Improving during the day

/reports/2024/06/07/foc_0.gif Saturday
A cloudy morning in England and Wales with most sunshine in the southeast. In the Midlands and western Wales locally having a few spots of rain at first, but soon becoming and staying dry for the rest of the day, skies partly clearing around midday. The opposite for northern England, a bright morning but increasingly cloudy and a few afternoon showers. Worst of the conditions in the north, with steadier rain on western and northern Scottish coasts, showers sweeping through all northern parts of Scotland joined by gusty northwesterly winds. Better for southern Scotland with fewer showers. Sunny spells and most likely dry in Ireland. Highs 19C in southeast England but more widely 12 to 16C although just 10C in northwest Scotland.

Starting with clear skies and dry in Wales and England, increasing clouds from the north passing south and gradually covering northern England, possibly bringing some local light rain. Some showers still in western and northern Scotland, dry with clear spells for the east of Highlands. Cloudy but mostly dry in Northern Ireland, often clear in the south. Breezy on the coast. Lows generally 4 to 6C, in Northern Ireland 8 to 10C.

Widely fair weather at the start, from around midday more clouds in northern and central England, as well as in Wales, brief showers from Snowdonia, across northern England to East Anglia. Less appealing in the north, rain particularly in northern Scotland and in Ireland, perhaps dry on the southern Irish coast. Highs from 19C in southeast England through 13 to 15C in rest of England and southern Scotland, around 12C in Wales and Ireland and just above 10C in the far north.

/reports/2024/06/07/foc_3.gif Monday
Overcast over the vast majority of Britain, the best of the sunny spells in northern England and southern Scotland. A wet morning in southern England and Wales. Showers across northern Scotland and these become more extensive from the Highlands to the Midlands in the afternoon. Dry and sunnier in Ireland, except the southern coast in the morning where some rain is possible. Breezy in Ireland and Scotland. Top temperatures 16C in southern England and Ireland, just below 10C in northern Scotland, 12 to 14C elsewhere.
